Music of the Day: Nils, Dreamin’
Ah, July. Independence Day. WBT’s birthday. RAP’s birthday. MB's birthday. Baby Jade's birthday. AJ’s birthday. And this year we’re off to our second-most-western state for a couple of weeks. Yep. It’s back to Hawaii for a while—rain, sunshine, more rain, balmy temperatures, rain, sunshine, and rain. Cool nights. Balmy days. Rain. It rains a lot on Kauai.
We’ll have one or more meals at Bubba’s Burgers, probably in Hanalei on our way to and from Anini Beach with multiple family members and friends staying with us. We’ll probably hit Port Allen for a gut-wrenching boat ride along the Na Pali coast (don’t sit in front of me on the boat—I barfed on a nice honey-mooning couple from California six years ago; it wasn’t personal, just some bad fish the night before and really rough seas); we’ll probably skip going to Hilo Hatti’s—too much of a tourist trap, I guess. And we’ll probably go back to one or both botanical gardens, which are too spectacular to attempt to describe in words—you have to see ‘em and smell ‘em on your own. Plumeria. Best scent, ever. . . .
I can’t tell if I’ll have wireless access or not; if you find no new postings here for a couple of weeks, please assume that wireless hasn’t arrived on the north shore yet. And my access to, and desire to read about, things political may be somewhat diminished by the rain, the balmy temperatures, the sunshine, the tennis courts, and various other distractions. If the tenor of my posts changes entirely for a while after we get back home, assume that I’ve just gone a bit native; I’ll eventually recover. Or maybe not.
So, here’s hoping you all have a very happy Independence Day—fly the flag!
AJ
